Everyday life is both normalized and standardized to the needs of the community. Practically, for the proper functioning of the chained processes on which good flow of things that surround us depends, we are constantly relate to standards. These must be respected even more when talking about laboratory activity and specialized furniture found in these spaces. Due to the fact that laboratory activity is very specific and of high risk, laboratory activities are performed under tremendously strict and clear rules, imposed to ensure the correct operation of the equipment and prevent staff injury and the pollution of both the equipment and environment. Each work equipment, piece of furniture or machinery is made in accordance with the ergonomic rules (EN 14056) and respect all field-specific standards. Thus, there are general recommendations for laboratory furniture according to the materials they’re made of, but also specific standards: for work tables (EN 13150), for storage cabinets (EN 14727), for electrical installations (EN 61010), warning color codes for valves and taps (EN 13792), standard for special storage rooms that contain dangerous substances, highly corrosive or flammable (EN 14470-1), gas cylinders (EN 14470-2), etc. In laboratory spaces, following the European Standards (EN) when implementing a project that implies furnishing a room also guarantees, at the same time, a minimum quality of the furniture – the life expectancy of the furniture. The quality of both the materials and the construction of the furniture according to the standards, as well as the exploitation of the furniture according to the manufacturers' recommendations ensure the preservation of its properties for a long time. E-Laborator recommends respecting the standards.
